Ferries to carry only light vehicles during the day for Padma Bridge security

By Star Digital Report

Only light vehicles such as private cars, SUVs, microbuses and ambulances will be ferried on the Shimulia- Banglabazar route -- from 6am to 5pm -- every day for Padma Bridge's security, due to the current in the river.

"Although the current is not conducive to running the ferries, it has been decided to carry only light vehicles using five express ferries, between 6am and 5pm, every day," reports our Munshiganj correspondent quoting SM Ashiquzzaman, director (Commercial) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC).

Ferry service will be off from 5pm till 6am.
