Discipline to restore soon in city public transport: Taposh
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today said discipline would be restored soon in city public transport.
"With the launching of bus route rationalisation programme on December 26, traffic discipline will be restored in the public transport of Dhaka city," he said today after inaugurating a foot-over bridge in Dhanmondi's Shankar, said a press release.
"Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will inaugurate the bus rationalisation programme on December 26, so we are now inspecting the passenger tents, infrastructure development and bus-bay that are being constructed," added the DSCC mayor.
Expressing his determination to benefit city dwellers by completing bus route rationalisation activities in the entire Green Cluster by next year, Taposh said, "If it is fully implemented by 2022, Dhaka residents will get complete benefit out of it".
He requested Dhaka city dwellers to use all the infrastructures including pedestrian bridges, at road crossings.
"We have already taken an initiative to modernise and automate the traffic management at all intersections points," he also said.
