Islami Andolon Bangladesh (IAB) Ameer Syed Md Rezaul Karim yesterday said Islamist parties will present unified candidates in all constituencies during the upcoming national elections.

Addressing the party's central executive committee meeting at the IAB headquarters in Purana Paltan, Rezaul Karim emphasised that Islamist parties aim to ensure a single candidate for each seat in the parliamentary polls.

He said, "In the upcoming elections, Islamist parties will ensure a single, unified candidate for each constituency. We will field candidates in all seats unitedly, giving meaningful purpose to the revolution achieved through the sacrifices and blood of the people."

Rezaul said Bangladesh stands at a historically significant crossroads, presenting both great promise and critical challenges. He cautioned that failing to effectively navigate this period could lead the nation back into turmoil.

"The current government, backed by strong public support, has initiated various reform measures, but challenges continue to arise," he said, adding that some problems seem to stem from deliberate conspiracies.

He stressed the importance of unity among all stakeholders, stating, "To eradicate the toxic remnants of fascism, the government needs both time and support."Rezaul also expressed concern over the recent fire at the Secretariat, calling for an immediate investigation to identify and hold accountable those responsible for the incident.
