Caretaker govt system won't be reinstated: law minister

Star Digital Report

Law Minister Anisul Huq today said the caretaker government system will not be reintroduced in the country and that the Election Commission will hold the next parliamentary election under the present government.

"BNP-Jamaat don't want to contest in the next general elections but expect somebody will again put them in power through the backdoor. The caretaker government system will not be reintroduced in the country. The Election Commission will hold the election under the present government," he said.

The minister was addressing a meeting of Kharera union unit of Awami League in Brahmanbaria's Kasba upazila, reports our local correspondent.

Addressing the meeting as chief guest, the law minister said BNP-Jamaat has been trying to turn Bangladesh into a 'failed state'.

The minister also said Bangladesh's future will be bleak without Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh will turn into a state of anarchy if BNP-Jamaat come to the power again, he said.

He said history says they are the killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. They formulated law so that trial over the Bangabandhu killing does not take place.

Not only this, they appointed the killers to different posts and gave political benefits. Now, they have to be defeated politically, the minister added.

The minister called for unity to foil their 'conspiracy'.

Kharera union unit AL President Abu Abdullah Bhuiyan presided over the meeting.
