BNP today asked the government to change their decision and allow the party to hold their rally in front of its Nayapaltan headquarters.

"We want to say clearly, please change your decision and try to understand what people want. Take initiative so that we can hold the rally in Nayapaltan and take all the necessary steps so that we can hold the rally peacefully," said Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, secretary general of the party.

He came up with the call at a protest rally organised by Dhaka North and South City units of BNP at Nayapaltan protesting the cases filed against BNP leaders and activists.

Earlier on Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police gave permission to hold the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan under 26 conditions.

The country's political situation has been tense over the December 10 rally as BNP wants to hold it in Nayapaltan.

But the government said the party must hold it at Suhrawardy Udyan. Both the Awami League and BNP have been at loggerheads over the rally venue.
