BCL national council deferred to Dec 8
The 30th national council of Bangladesh Chhatra League, which has remained pending for the last two years, will be held on December 8.
Awami League Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak confirmed the matter to The Daily Star last night citing AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
Besides, the council of Bangladesh Jubo Mohila League, an associate organisation of AL, has been rescheduled to December 15.
Sources said, earlier on Tuesday morning, at a view-exchange meeting with leaders and activists of Sylhet district and metropolitan Awami League at Gono Bhaban, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed to hold BCL council on any other date of that month instead of December 3.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to visit Japan on November 29 on a state visit and is expected to return on December 3, which is why she wanted the council on a different date.
The council of Bangladesh Jubo Mohila League has also been deferred over the same reason.
