Policeman dies in crash

A police constable died yesterday in a road accident in Daulatpur Meenakhhi Cinema Hall area of Khulna city.

Musabbir Hossain, 34, bodyguard of the Khalishpur Zone assistant commissioner of police, died after a truck rammed his motorbike around 9:45am while he was on his way to a firing range in Bil Dakatia area, said Manira Sultana, deputy commissioner (traffic) of Khulna Metropolitan Police.

After impact, Musabbir fell under the truck, which dragged him for seven yards, she added.

Police arrested Alam Sheikh, the helper of the truck, and seized the vehicle. The driver fled the scene, said Kazi Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station.
