Mujib's statute demolished in Pabna

Protesters vandalised a statue of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Jatshakini union in Pabna's Bera upazila last night.

The 26-feet high monument named "Shekar Theke Shikhore" was constructed beside Dhobkola Kornesion High School in the area.

Jatshakini union Chairman Abul Kalam Azad confirmed that the protesters tore down the structure with an excavator.

Confirming the incident, Sayed Md Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Aminpur Police Station, said that no one has complained about the matter.

"If anybody files complain over the matter, then we will go for investigation," the OC added.

Protesters have been vandalising murals of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, district Awami League offices, statues and portraits associated with the former AL leaders across the country since February 6.
