New deputy commissioners (DCs) have been appointed to 29 districts over the past two days as part of a reshuffle in the field administration ahead of the national election.

The Ministry of Public Administration, through multiple notifications, announced new appointments to 14 districts -- Brahmanbaria, Jhenaidah, Narail, Jamalpur, Meherpur, Kishoreganj, Jhalakathi, Gopalganj, Chuadanga, Panchagarh, Joypurhat, Mymensingh, Manikganj, and Chandpur -- yesterday.

Among them, the DC of Narail has been transferred to Brahmanbaria, while the DC of Meherpur has been posted to Narail.

On Sunday, the government appointed new DCs to 15 other districts.

The districts are Noakhali, Habiganj, Gazipur, Dhaka, Gaibandha, Barguna, Bogura, Sirajganj, Magura, Pirojpur, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Khulna, Kushtia, and Bhola.

Officials at the ministry said most of the officers replaced over the last two days were promoted to the rank of joint secretary, making their transfers routine.
