CMCH stops regular admission as Covid situation worsens
Amid increasing number of Covid-19 patients at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), hospital authorities have stopped admitting regular patients.
The CMCH authorities issued an order on Sunday in this regard and instructed all the head of the wards not to admit patients except for emergency ones.
Besides, only emergency operations would be performed at the hospital until further notice.
The admitted patients who have been suffering from long-standing diseases would be discharged with prescription so that they could follow it at home.
All the doctors, nursing and ward staffers and others related to patient management must have to wear masks while handling patients, it added.
The authorities took the decision so that the doctors and nursing staffers could handle the Covid-19 patients better, said Brig Gen SM Humayun Kabir, director of CMCH.
The 200-bed Covid ward of the hospital is already overwhelmed with patients, he said, adding that they are planning to increase the number of beds.
