Student ‘beaten for paying half bus fare’ in Savar
A section of students took position in Savar Model Police Station this afternoon demanding justice for a fellow student who was allegedly beaten up by bus workers.
Younus Kabir Selim (18), a first-year student of Savar Government College, was allegedly beaten up by the contractor of a bus of Welcome Paribahan for paying half fare.
The incident took place near Thana Stand area of Dhaka-Aricha Highway, reports our Savar correspondent quoting the victim.
The agitating students also seized eight buses of Welcome Paribahan following the incident.
"We are holding a discussion with both sides in order to resolve the issue," said Makarias Das, inspector (operations) of Savar Model Police Station.
