Rohingya man held with firearms in Cox’s Bazar

Members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn-16) in a drive arrested a Rohingya citizen of Myanmar in possession of a firearm and two rounds of bullets from a camp in Teknaf this noon (August 16, 2022).

The arrestee is Md Ayub, 20, son of Jafar Alam, is a residence of Camp 14 A block at Hakimpara of Ukhiya, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.

Acting on a tip-off, he was arrested from Camp-26 in Shalbagan area while APBn members were conducting a block-raid, said Kamrul Hasan, additional superintendent of APBn in Cox's Bazar.

"He is an active member of a Rohingya robber gang, A Light Gun (LG) and two rounds of bullets were seized from his possession," the police official said.

Ayub was handed over to Teknaf Police Station after a case was filed in this connection, he added.
