One lakh yaba pills recovered from fishing trawler, 2 detained

Members of Rapid Action Battalion have detained two persons and recovered one lakh yaba pills and foreign beers from a fishing trawler at the Bay of Bengal in Teknaf, adjacent to Shahporir Dwip.

The detainees were identified as Mohammad Hasan (26) of Rajapalong union under Ukhiya upazila and Md Hossain (45) of Chate Moheshkhali area under Moheshkhali upazila, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent quoting Md Tanvir Hasan, deputy commander of Rab-15.

On primary interrogation, the detainees have said that they tried to store the yaba consignment in Teknaf, said the Rab official.

On secret information, Rab conducted the drive last night, he said, adding that one lakh yaba pills and eight cans of foreign beers were recovered from the fishing trawler during the 15-hour-long drive.

Two persons were detained and the trawler was seized, he informed.

A case is underway with Teknaf Model Police Station in this connection, he added.

The detainees will be handed over to police, he further said.
