Mujib statue demolished in Dinajpur

The statue of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Mohanpur village under Dinajpur Sadar upazila was torn down last night.

The statue was located near the Mohanpur Rubber Dam on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway.

Local residents said that around 7:00pm, an angry crowd used a bulldozer to demolish two large statues of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which had been erected at the entrance of Dinajpur Sadar upazila by former Awami League lawmaker and whip Iqbalur Rahim in 2015.

Motiar Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dinajpur Sadar Police Station, said the police had been informed of the incident late last night.
