Model Piyasha indicted in narcotics case, trial to begin April 17
A Dhaka court today framed charges against model and former TV presenter Faria Mahbub Piyasha in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
Piyasha, now on bail, pleaded not guilty and demanded justice after Md Morshed Alam of the Fourth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka read out the charges to the accused.
Earlier in the day, the judge dismissed the petition submitted seeking to discharge her from the charges of the case filed with Gulshan Police Station.
The judge then set April 17 for starting trial of the case.
On September 28, 2021, CID Inspector Md Abdul Latif, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka.
Before than on August 1, 2021, detectives arrested Piyasha from her Baridhara residence. They seized 780 yaba pills, eight bottles of foreign alcohol and four cans of beer from her residence.
Another case against Piyasha and her associate Sharful Hasan alias Mishu Hasan was also filed with Bhatara Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.
