Model Piyasha denied bail in drugs case

A Dhaka court today rejected a bail petition of Model and former TV presenter Faria Mahbub Piyasha in a case filed with Gulshan Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shahinur Rahman passed the order after her lawyer moved a petition, seeking bail in the case.

During the hearing, her lawyer told the court that his client was implicated in the case as part of a conspiracy to harass her.

The prosecution, however, opposed it, saying that narcotics was recovered from her possession. So, the bail petition should be rejected, the prosecution added.

Upon hearing both the sides, the magistrate turned down the bail petition.

Detectives on August 1 arrested Piyasha from her Baridhara residence. They seized 780 pieces of yaba tablets and foreign liquor from her residence.
