Man to walk gallows for killing wife

A Pabna court yesterday awarded a man with death penalty for killing his wife.

Woman and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal judge Mizanur Rahman passed the order in presence of convict Sifat Ali, 42. Three others were acquitted from the case.

According to the case statement, Sifat along with his family members beat up and strangled his wife on September 26, 2013 for dowry.

The victim's father filed a case against five with Chatmohar Police Station after the incident.

Police submitted charge sheet on January 15, 2014 against five but one of them died earlier.
