Man held with gold worth TK 90 lakh at Ctg airport

Officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) seized gold bars worth TK 90 lakh from the possession of a passenger at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport this morning.

The 12 gold bars were found in the handbag of Mohammad Mijan Uddin, who arrived from United Arab Emirates, our staff correspondent reports quoting AKM Sultan Mahmud, deputy commissioner of CIID.

Mijan Uddin was detained in this connection, he added.

The passenger arrived around 7.30am at the airport on flight B9-526 from Sharjah.

The gold bars will be deposited to the Bangladesh Bank exchequer and a departmental case will be lodged under the customs act, the deputy commissioner of CIID added.
