HC to start hearing anticipatory bail petitions after over 3 months

After more than three and a half months, the High Court is going to resume hearing and disposing of anticipatory bail petitions from August 22 following health safety rules.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has allowed the relevant benches of the High Court to hold hearing – from August 22 -- on the petitions filed by the accused seeking anticipatory bail in the cases against them.

Supreme Court Registrar General Md Ali Akbar issued a notification to this effect today under the directive from the chief justice.

On April 29, the chief justice had constituted some HC benches for hearing urgent cases except for anticipatory bail petitions due to Covid-19 pandemic ad since then, the HC is not dealing with such bail petitions.
