Gold worth Tk 8.35cr found digging chilli field in Jashore
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) last night recovered 80 gold bars, weighing around 9.3kgs, digging a chilli field along Chougacha border in Jashore.
A patrol team first noticed suspicious movement of two persons at the chilli field in Shahjadpur border area around 11:00pm.
After the BGB team chase them, the smugglers hurriedly buried the gold bars in the chilli field and fled away, Commanding Officer of Jashore-49 BGB Battalion Lt Col Shahed Minhaj Siddiqui told our local correspondent.
Later, the border guards searched the area, dug the soil and found the gold bars in two cloth bags, the Rab official said adding that the gold is worth around Tk 8.35 crore.
A case has been filed with Chougacha Police Station in this regard.
