Dentist Bulbul murder: DB arrests another “mugger” from Jhalakathi

Another alleged mugger was arrested in connection with the murder of dentist Ahmed Mahi Bulbul, in Dhaka's Sheorapara area on March 27.

Md Ripon (30) was arrested from Nalchity upazila in Jhalakathi yesterday (June 15, 2022), Manas Kumar Podder, deputy commissioner (DB Mirpur division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police told The Daily Star.

Earlier, detectives arrested four alleged muggers in this case.

They are: Raihan alias Sohel alias Apan (27), Rasel Hossain Hawlader (25), Ariyan Khan Ridoy (23), and Solaiman (23)

Dentist a victim of mugging

The DC said five muggers were involved with the murder. Those arrested earlier named Ripon as their accomplice. He was hiding in Jhalakathi after the murder.

Earlier, at least two of the arrestees gave confessional statements before two Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates where they said five of them were present at the scene when Bulbul was attacked with knives.

Dentist stabbed to death in city

They were trying to rob the victim when he was passing the area in an auto-rickshaw. But the victim resisted and at one stage, they stabbed him with sharp weapons in his thigh which led to his death.
