Child murdered after rape: Police arrest accused after going through CCTV footage

Police arrested the accused in a case filed for rape and murder of a seven-year-old child after scrutinising footage from 300 CCTV cameras.

Accused Osman Harun Mintu was arrested from a rickshaw garage under Double Mooring Police Station in the port city last night (October 12, 2022), our Chattogram staff correspondent reports.

Mintu is a rickshaw puller from Noakhali.

The victim was found dead at an abandoned house in Port Colony under Bandar Police Station in the city on September 18.

After the primary investigation, police said that the child was raped and strangled to death.

Shakila Sultana, deputy commissioner of police (Bandar) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, confirmed the arrest of the accused.
