Case filed over attack on students in Gazipur
A case has been filed over the Friday night's attack on students in Gazipur city.
Siddiq Hossain, inspector (investigation) of Gazipur Sadar Police Station, confirmed it to The Daily Star this evening.
The police official said Md Abdullah, one of the coordinators of Students against Discrimination, in Gazipur, has filed the case on behalf of the students against 239 named people and 200-300 unidentified people.
On Friday, around a hundred protesters gathered near the ancestral home of former Liberation War Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, also president of the district unit AL, at the city's Dhirashram area at around 10:00pm, according to witnesses.
Soon an announcement came from the local mosque's loudspeaker that robbers had attacked the house. When the protesters tried to run away, alleged AL activists caught some of them and beat them up.
Later, police rushed to the spot, rescued the injured people, and sent them to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.
