4 sentenced to death for murder of auto-rickshaw driver in Khulna

A court in Khulna today sentenced four people to death in a case filed over the murder of a man in 2016.

Khulna Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court Judge SM Ashiqur Rahman also fined each of the convicts Tk 50,000, our Khulna correspondent reports.

The convicts now are on the run, the court's bench assistant Shuvendu Roy Chowdhury confirmed.

Convicts Mohammad Nur Islam and Jony Das are from Kishoreganj while Md Roni Shikdar from Chattogram and Md Masud Rana Mollah from Khulna.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Kazi Sabbir Ahmed said that the case was filed over the murder of an auto-rickshaw driver -- Ohidur Rahman Ripon -- on January 11, 2016.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Inspector Mir Atahar Ali, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet accusing the four people the same year.
