3 brothers get life term for killing carpenter in Pabna
A Pabna court today sentenced three siblings to life term imprisonment for killing a carpenter in Pabna's Sadar upazila in 2010.
The convicts are Md Babu (38), Md Mostafa (32) and Md Abu (35), sons of Md Shahed Ali of Kashinathpur Charpara village, reports our Pabna correspondent.
Md Ahsan Tarek, judge of Pabna Special Judge's court pronounced the verdict in a crowded court room this noon. All the convicts are now on the run.
The court also fined them Tk 25,000 each, in default of which they will have to suffer one more year in jail.
According to the prosecution, a group of miscreants attacked carpenter Shahin Hossain (30) in Ramanandapur culvert area of the upazila on July 27, 2010 whlie he was returning home.
They attacked him with lethal weapons mercilessly, leaving him injured. Shahin died on the way to hospital.
Victim's wife Sima Khatun filed a murder case with Pabna police station accusing 10 people including the trio.
Talking to reporters, Public Prosecutor Dewan Moznul Haque said after investigation, police submitted charge sheet accusing the three siblings.
Examining 13 witnesses and documents, the court handed down the verdict today, he added.
