2 youths arrested for gang-rape, recording it in Noakhali

Two youths have been arrested on charge of raping a high school student and recording the crime in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali.

The victim's mother filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and Pornography Act accusing Abdur Rahman (28) and Md Ibrahim (24) with Begumganj Police Station this morning, said Md Kamruzzaman Sikdar, officer-in-charge of the police station.

Quoting the case statement, the OC said Abdur Rahman picked up the girl from the road while she was going to a friend's house around 3pm yesterday and raped her at an under-construction building.

Later, Rahman called his friend Ibrahim and they took the girl to the latter's house where both raped her and recorded it on mobile phone.

They also snatched gold ornaments from the victim and drove her away from the house, the OC said quoting the case statement.

The police official said on information, police arrested the two accused from their houses last night.

They were produced before the district court after the victim's mother filed the case this morning, added the OC.

Md Shahidul Islam, superintendent of Noakhali police, said the victim was taken to Noakhali General Hospital for medical check-up.
