174 sued for attack on officials in Sirajganj
At least 174 locals of Boldipara village in Sirajganj's Shahzadpur were sued yesterday for halting government work, attacking officials and vandalising a government vehicle on Sunday.
Police arrested seven people in this connection, and the arrestees were sent to jail through court yesterday.
Nazrul Islam, OC of Shahzadpur Police Station, said Abdul Hai, an official of Shahzadpur AC (land) office, yesterday lodged the case accusing 174 people, including 120 unidentified ones.
On Sunday, some villagers clashed with government officials when the latter went to visit a proposed Ashrayan project on Haldighar field.
At one stage, the villagers, who were protesting against the housing project on the playground, attacked Shahzadpur AC (land) Liakot Salman and vandalised his vehicle. A child was also injured during the clash.
However, Faruk Ahmed, Sirajganj deputy commissioner, said the project has been undertaken on government land.
