A worker died after an old boundary wall collapsed on him while digging soil at a construction site in Dhaka's Bhatara area this morning.

The deceased was identified as Azharul Islam Sabuj (45) of Sunamganj district.

The incident happened around 11:30 am at the site of Dwelling Real Estate at the Solmaid area.

The six-foot wall boundary of an under-construction 10-storey building collapsed on Sabuj as he was taking rest sitting nearby, leaving him critically injured, said Abu Bakkar, site manager of the company.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, he said.

Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost, said the body was sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
