Two killed in Dhaka road accidents

Three more die in crashes across the country

Two people were killed in separate road accidents in Dhaka's Gulshan and Rampura areas yesterday.

The deceased are Abdul Latif (48), a vegetable seller, and Sadman Sakib (31), a private service holder.

Latif, on a vegetable-carrying pickup van, was heading towards Nadda from Karwan Bazar around 5:00am. He sustained head injuries when the van hit a road divider, said his brother-in-law Manik Mia.

He was rushed to DMCH, where he died around 9:00am.

Meanwhile, Sakib sustained critical injuries after being hit by a covered-van while he was crossing the road near Rampura BTV Station around 5:30am, said SI Sazzad Hossain of Rampura Police Station. Police seized the covered van and detained its driver.

Besides, three people were killed and three were injured across the country yesterday, report our correspondents.

In Joypurhat town, a former LGED engineer was killed after a speeding motorbike hit him on Joypurhat-Bogura Road. The deceased is Halimpur Rashid (65).

He used to work at LGED in Joypurhat.

In Panchagarh, madrasa teacher Md Abdullah (42) was killed after his bike hit a tree on Boda-Pachpir Road.

In Dinajpur, a youth was killed, and two were hurt, after two motorbikes collided in Hajirmor area on Dinajpur-Parbatipur Road, said police. The deceased is Sanwar Islam (20).
