Truck runs over, kills 3 transport workers in Nilphamari

Three transport workers were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Dinajpur highway in Nilphamari's Saidpur last night.

The deceased were identified as Zahangir Alam Bhandari (48), Rabiul Islam (52) and Md Alam (45). They were members of Nilphamari inter-district transport workers' union, reports our local correspondent quoting Abul Hasanat, officer-in-charge of Saidpur Police Station.

The incident took place near Niphamari Bus Terminal when a speeding truck came out of a patrol pump and ran over four people.

The trio were dead on the spot and the injured was admitted to a hospital, the police official said adding that the driver managed to flee the scene with his vehicle.
