Tejturi Bazar blast: One succumbs to injuries

A resident, who was injured in an explosion at the capital's Tejgaon East Tejturi Bazar last night, died early today while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Zikrullah Jitu (30) died in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital. His body suffered 64 percent burn, confirmed Opurbo Hasan, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Police Station.

The blast occurred around 8pm yesterday, leaving two people injured, said Inspector Md Bacchu Mia, in charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Police Outpost.

"They were brought to the hospital by one named Nahid around 11 pm. They used to live on the second floor of the sit-storey building," he said yesterday.

"The other injured, Yasin (35), suffered 50 percent burn injuries," Bacchu said, citing doctors.
