SSC examinee drowns in Mymensingh
A Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinee drowned while swimming in Khiru river in Mymensingh's Bhaluka upazila this noon (June 18, 2022).
The victim was identified as Abu Nayeem (16), son of Faruq Mia of Jahangirpur village in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. He was supposed to sit for SSC exams this year from Jhalpaja Govt High School in Bhaluka, said Md Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Police Station.
Quoting locals, OC Kamal further said Nayeem along with some of his friends started swimming in the river in Jhalpaja area around 11:30am.
After an hour, the other friends came out of the river but Nayeem went missing.
On information, locals conducted searches in the river and recovered the body around 1:30pm, added the OC.
