Sitakunda Blast: Oxygen plant director gets bail
A Chattogram court yesterday granted bail to Parvez Uddin Santu, director of Sheema Oxygen Plant, in a case filed over negligence in factory operation and maintenance, which cost seven lives following a blast on March 4.
Chattogram Judicial Magistrate Court granted the bail on Tk 5-lakh bond after hearing the case, Santu's lawyer Ibrahim Hossen Chowdhury Babul told The Daily Star.
Industrial Police arrested Parvez in Sitakunda on March 14 in connection with the case. Later, he was remanded for one day.
Sheema Group owns Sheema Oxygen Plant, which is located in Sitakunda. The plant operates two oxygen factories, steel rerolling mills, and shipbreaking yards, according to its officials.
