School run turns tragic as train hits boy in Nakhalpara
A class five student died after being hit by a train on his way to school in Dhaka's Nakhalpara this morning.
The deceased was identified as Zunayed Bagdadi (12), a student of Nakhalpara Government Primary School.
The accident took place around 9:15am when the boy was on his way to school from his house. With critically injured, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, family members and police said.
As his condition deteriorated there, the boy was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died around 11:15am, said the victim's father Ataur Rahman Jewel, a cloth trader.
Jewel said his son was going to school alone like other days when the accident occurred.
"We came to know from locals that another boy was walking along the rail track when a train was approaching. As Zunayed pulled him off to save him, he was hit by the train," he said.
Hailing from Chandpur, Zunayed was elder among two children of Jewel.
The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost.
