Police officer dies in road accident

An assistant sub-inspector of police died after a truck hit him in Rangpur's Mithapukur upazila yesterday.

The incident occured in Paglarhat village around 7:00pm, when Aliul Islam, 35, of Mithapukur Police Station, was going to work on his motorbike from Gopalpur union.

He died on the spot, said Mostafizar Rahman, officer-in-charge of the station.

"The driver managed to flee. We are now trying to identify the truck," the OC added.
