One killed in speedboat-trawler collision in Brahmanbaria

A passenger was killed when a trawler collided with a speedboat on Buri river in Brahmanbaria'a Nabinagar upazila this evening.

The deceased, Atikur Rahman (30), was a resident of Nurjahanpur village of Borikandi union of the upazila, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent quoting Aminur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Nabinagar Police Station.

Quoting the eyewitnesses, the OC said an engine-run boat collided with a speedboat at Montala area of the Buri river at around 6:30pm -- leaving a passenger critically injured.

The injured was taken to Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead, added the OC.

On information, police rushed to the spot and seized the boat and detained the driver for interrogation, the OC informed.
