One killed as bridge collapses in Bandarban

A Bailey bridge collapsed along with a rice-laden truck in Bandarban's Rowangchhari upazila around 2:00pm yesterday, killing the driver on the spot.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Gafur, a 55-year-old man from Chattogram's Satkania upazila, said Abdul Mannan, officer-in-charge of Rowangchhari Police Station.

The vehicle was on its way to the district's Ruma upazila from Bandarban Sadar, he said, adding that communication between the two upazilas remained snapped after the incident.
