Jatrabari explosion: death toll rises to 4 as another injured dies

The death toll in Saturday's explosion in Jatrabari rose to four, as another injured died last night at a Dhaka hospital.

Shafiqul Islam (40) breathed his last around 10:30pm while being treated at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Aiyub Hossain, resident surgeon of the institute, said.

He had 78 percent burns, the doctor said.

Earlier, three out of the six injured in the incident died. Another injured is still in critical state, the doctor said.

Shafiqul used to paint gas cylinders at a shop at Awal Amirul Motor Parts Market, at Dhaka's Janapad intersection area, where a cylinder exploded around 5:15pm on Saturday, according to witnesses and fire officials.
