Fire at Rangpur Medical College Hospital under control; all beds of ENT ward burnt

A fire that broke out on the third floor of Rangpur Medical College Hospital this morning has been brought under control.

The fire originated in ward no. 7 of the hospital around 10:15am, reports our Dinajpur correspondent.

On information, six units of Rangpur fire service rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after one hour of frantic efforts.

"When the fire started at ward no. 7 of ENT department, some of the patients and their attendants were injured as they rushed to get out," Afzalur Rahman, an official of Rangpur fire service, said.

All the beds of the ward were burnt in the fire, the official said.

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately.

According to hospital sources, patients in the ward were evacuated as soon as the fire broke out.

No casualties had been reported.
