Elephant kills farmer

A 64-year-old farmer was killed by a herd of wild elephants in Haluaghat, Mymensingh, early yesterday.

The incident happened when Nawsher Ali and several other villagers were trying to scare away the herd of elephants from a paddy field in Koroitoli Kuchpara area, said Shahinuzzaman Khan, officer-in-charge of Haluaghat Police Station.

The elephants attacked Nawsher who died on the spot, said the OC.
