Couple killed as truck hits motorcycle in Bagerhat

A man and his wife were killed after a truck hit their motorcycle at Rampal upazila in Bagerhat last night.

The deceased were identified as Jahangir Hossain (52), and his wife Rehena Begum, of Digraj area of Mongla upazila in Bagerhat, reports our local correspondent quoting Golam Sarwar, deputy assistant director of Bagerhat Fire Service and Civil Defense.

The accident took place at around 8pm last night (April 2) at Babur Bari area of Rampal Upazila on Mongla-Khulna highway.

The fire official said the couple was returning home on a motorcycle from Khulna.

"On the way back, when they reached Babur Bari area, a truck carrying gas cylinders coming from the opposite direction hit the motorbike leaving Rehena Begum dead on the spot," Sarwar said.

Jahangir died on the way to hospital, he added.
