Biker dies in Gazipur road accident

A motorcyclist died and a pillion rider was injured after they were hit by a truck on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur today.

The deceased was identified as Billal Hossain (32), of Gauripur upazila in Mymensingh, reports our local correspondent.

Quoting locals and eyewitnesses, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mauna Highway Police Station, Kamal Hossain, said that a Dhaka-bound motorcycle was hit by a truck from behind at Gargaria Masterbari area on the highway around 5:30am today. 

The biker died on the spot, said the OC, adding that the injured pillion rider was later taken to a nearby hospital by the locals.

Police have seized the truck but the driver fled the scene. The deceased's body is being kept at the police station, the OC said.
