4 dead as bus plunges into ditch in Magura

Four people were killed and 20 others injured after a bus plunged into a ditch on Magura-Jashore Highway in Magura's Shalikha upazila today.

Three of the four deceased were identified as Sahirun (55) and Nazma (28) of Magura's Shalikha upazila and bus helper Mamun (25) of the district Sreepur upazila while the identify of another deceased could not be known yet, reports our Jhenaidah correspondent.

Hossain Al Mahbub, officer-in-charge of Shalikha Police Station, said a Magura-bound bus of Bismillah Paribahan from Jashore fell into the ditch beside the highway in Ramkantopur area around 3:30pm after its driver lost control over the steering.

The accident left four people dead on the spot and 20 others injured, said the OC.

The injured people were taken to Magura 250-bed Hospital, added the police official.
