2 siblings hurt as abandoned bomb goes off in Pabna

Two siblings were injured when an abandoned bomb exploded at Natiabari area of Pabna's Bera upazila this noon.

The injured are Ovi (12) and Mondira (10), children of Dilip Sutrodhor of Chorkandi village of the upazila. They are both students of Natiabari Government Primary School, reports our Pabna correspondent.

Officer-in-Charge of Aminpur Police Station, Md Rawshon Alom, said two siblings were returning home from school. On the road, they found a bomb wrapped in tape that they mistook for a ball, so they kicked it, and it exploded.

Both of them were injured in the explosion and were admitted to Pabna General Hospital in critical condition, the OC said.

When asked how the explosive got on the road, the OC said that police are looking into the matter.
