2 school students killed in Ctg road accident

Two school students were killed after a locally modified vehicle, known as Chander Gari, hit them in Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram today.

Deceased Mishu Akter (16) and Nisha Moni (18) were students of Haidchakia High School in Fatikchhari and residents of Paindong union, said Rabiul Islam, officer in-charge (OC) of Fatikchhari Police Station.

The OC said the paddy carrying vehicle hit Mishu and Nisha on Chattogram-Khagrachhari highway in C&B field area around 12:30 pm, leaving them dead on the spot.

The accident happened while the students were walking beside the highway, said OC Rabiul.

Locals intercepted the vehicle after the accident but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene, he added.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC said.

Following the accident, the agitated mob set two motorcycles of police on fire and blocked Chattogram-Khagrachhari highway, said the police official.

Traffic later returned to normalcy following police intervention, added the OC.
