2 killed in separate Dhaka road accidents

Two persons including a woman were killed in separate road accidents in Dhaka's Jatrabari and Mohakhali areas today (April 17, 2022).

The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahim Kazi (18), an employee of Mollah Glass House and Bilkis Begum (55), confirmed Inspector Md Bacchu Miah, -in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Outpost.

Abdur Rahim, from Narail Sadar upazila, was critically injured when a covered van hit him at Matuail's Hashem Road area of Jatrabari around 6:00 pm, said Azizul Haque, sub-inspector of Jatrabari Police Station.

He was sent to DMCH, where on duty doctor declared him dead at 7 pm, said Inspector Bacchu.

Police seized the vehicle but the driver managed to flee the scene.

Meanwhile, Bilkis Begum, from Baluka upazila in Mymensingh, sustained serious injuries after being hit by a staff bus at Amtali main road area of Mohakhali at around 6:00 pm, said Nesar Uddin, sub-inspector of Banani Police Station.

She was taken to the Emergency department of DMCH where on duty-doctors declared her dead at 8 pm, said the SI.

The SI said the bus was seized but its driver fled after the incident

The relatives of the victims' were informed and the bodies were kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsies.
