2 die in fire at furniture warehouse in Ctg
At least two people were killed in a fire that broke out at a furniture warehouse at Colonel Hat area of Chattogram this afternoon.
The fire broke out at around 3:50pm from an electric short circuit in the furniture warehouse and soon spread to the whole area, said Faruk Ahmed Shikder, Assistant Director (AD) of Fire Service and Civil Defence Chattogram.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. However, the identities of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately as the bodies are totally charred, said Deputy Commissioner (DC-West) Abdul Warish of CMP.
"The deceased persons were sleeping inside the warehouse when the fire broke out and the two were burnt there. Later firefighters recovered the bodies from the gutted spotted," said the DC.
Till filling this report, the firefighters and police inspected the fire spot after dousing the blaze.
The warehouse is a one-storied tin-shed building.
