Aide's wife admits role in plot

Fahima Islam Lopa, the wife of a close aide of Jubo League leader Riazul Haque Khan Milky, has made judicial confession admitting her role in murdering Milky by providing the killer with his whereabouts.
Lopa, 25, wife of Jubo League leader Maruf Reza Sagar, made her confessional statement Sunday afternoon.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan in Dhaka recorded the statement. Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested her from the capital’s Dhanmondi area Saturday.
The 43-year-old organising secretary of the Dhaka city (south) unit Jubo League was shot dead allegedly by Jahid Siddique Tarek, joint secretary of the same unit of Jubo League, in the capital’s Gulshan area early Tuesday.
On Wednesday, prime suspect Tarek was killed in an alleged shootout between his cohorts and Rab in the capital.
Lopa confessed that she was a close friend of Tarek and helped him with Milky’s whereabouts to proceed with the murder plan.
She added that Tarek had earlier planned to kill Milky some time during Jamaat-e-Islami’s 4-day hartal from 15 to 18 July, but as she could not inform him about the latter’s whereabouts at the time, the plan was aborted.
She was sent back to jail after recording the statement.
