7 cops hurt in Jamaat attack in Magura

Magura Seven policemen were injured in an attack by activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, in Shalikha upazila of Magura Thursday night. Acting on secret information, a patrol team of police led by Sub-inspector Iqbal Hossain raided a mosque at Sandra where a group of Jamaat-Shibir men were holding a clandestine meeting at about 11:00am. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the Jamaat-Shibir men attacked them with sharp weapons and hurled handmade bombs, leaving seven policemen injured. Police also fired 10 rounds of bullet to bring the situation under control. Later they managed to escape from the place hurriedly. Jihadul Kabir, superintendent of police of Magura, said police later launched a drive to track down the attackers. A case was filed in this connection.
