3 of a family killed in Dhamrai road crash
At least four people including three of a family were killed and three others injured when a truck and CNG-run auto rickshaw collided head-on in Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka Wednesday.
The deceased are Prem Kumar Chandra Das, 32, his son Saikat Das, 10, Prem Kumar’s sister-in-law Kolopati, 24 and the auto rickshaw driver Babul, 35.
Saikat died on the spot and auto rickshaw driver Babul succumbed to his injuries at Enam Medical College Hospital at Savar, said Khandker Imam Hossain, inspector of Dhamrai Police Station.
Prem Kumar and Kolopati died at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), he added.
Prem Kumar’s wife Bhanu Das, 26, who was also with the family, went missing after the accident at Islampur, the police official said.
The injured were admitted to the DMCH. The victims are Prem Kumar’s daughter Aparupa, 8, his sister-in-law Sachi Rani, 25, and Sachi Rani's daughter Ratri, two and a half years old.
Kolopati’s husband Joydas told The Daily Star that the victims met the fate on their way to a relative's house at Dhamrai.
